The publication PREGO, conceived as an artist's book, presents the photographic, cinematic, and sculptural-installative work of Alwin Lay created in recent years. It appears as an independent contribution to the artist's first solo museum exhibition at Museum für Photographie Braunschweig, which was shown in spring 2021. With the eponymous title "Prego" and some of the works shown in the exhibition, this established a reference to Rollei as an important camera manufacturer in the city. Within Alwin Lay's various thematic fields, the media-reflexive preoccupation with photography, film, their technical conditions and their image truths are among the recurring content-related aspects. With its sequence of images, the publication PREGO ties in with the moment of the perforation of a film reel and presents the work as a series with regular intervals. It is supplemented with installation views of the exhibition at the Museum für Photographie Braunschweig, an essay by Stefan Gronert, and a conversation conducted by Barbara Hofmann-Johnson with Alwin Lay. The graphic concept was designed by Ibrahim Oeztas.
